Wednesday wrap-up

It's 2:39am, and I am going back out again tomorrow, but I thought it might be nice to show you a few pictures I took today.

This is the Manhattan Bridge. Usually I come in over the Williamsburg Bridge, but a fire-rescue team the on-ramp closed. When I drive the ice cream truck I constantly hear David Byrne in my head. Specifically, I hear a line from The Talking Heads tune Once in a Lifetime - "you may find yourself behind the wheel of a large automobile."

My friend Lisa happened to be shopping near Union Square, and she also happened to be wearing her BGICT shirt. A fellow shopper saw her shirt and said "you know that the Big Gay Ice Cream Truck is just around the corner?" She came running up and life got even better.

I took pickles today. It was fun to have them on the truck (they were my lunch, after all) but it was even more hilarious to serve them. My friend Paul was the first to order, and he agreed: pickles and ice cream really do go together! A million pregnant ladies can't be wrong. A truck regular (bacon fetishist- don't tell!!) came by shortly; he and his daughter shared a sundae. Later he told me that she gobbled the pickle down and couldn't be bothered with the ice cream.

A job that has people bringing you homemade chocolate chip and bacon cookies? Does such a job exist? Well, it does now! A sweetheart brought me a few samples of her homemade cookies. God DAMN it am I lucky.

Lastly, a shot of the truck's interior. I'm using Andrea's truck this week. If I had her smoking bod I'd plaster photos of myself everywhere too! God I love her.

  2. Re. Pickles & Ice Cream...

The Four Coursemen, chefs extraordinaire in Athens, GA, made pickle cream for one of their feasts. It was served with bread ice cream and cheese ice cream. I'm not sure how I'd feel about pickles on the side, but in the ice cream it's fantastic.
