Opening day was a complete success. I worked non-stop; there wasn't even time to take photos or tweet. Many regulars came down just that they could be there for the opening, which is incredibly flattering. Just like last year the crowds were fun, good-natured, and HUNGRY. All winter I wondered "will people still care?" The answer is obvious.
All the menu items have names now; the Dulce de Leche and Nilla Wafer cone is now called Bea Arthur. The high points of the day, for me, were people's reactions to this cone. I didn't realize all of the "eating Bea Arthur" jokes that I was setting up. Lord!
I'll see you all next week.
