Down Under

Our first (known) coverage in Australia! Click here. Reading the article made me wonder what a "pie floater" is, because it sounded as though might be delicious. I was thinking of a piece of apple pie, some sort of soda. From wiki:

A pie floater is a meal available in Australia which consists of the traditional Australian style meat pie sitting, usually inverted, in a plate of thick green pea soup. It is typically covered with tomato sauce and, although subject to the taste of the individual consumer, mint sauce
and salt and pepper are also traditionally added to complement the dish. Another popular condiment is malt vinegar.

Holy momma!! Sign me up for a pie floater!!

I'm trying to dig up some TV spots from Colombia and Japan. Stay tuned.

All about WEDNESDAY

On Wednesday, Sept 16, I'll be hitting the road a little later in the afternoon than usual. I'm not sleeping in... alas, I have an appointment at the Apple Store at 9:30. Ptooey! After that things get much more fun- I head uptown to the Sirius/XM studios and go on the air with Frank DeCaro. Listen in! I'll be on his show, which you find on Sirius OutQ, channel 109. I'll be in the studio a little past noon.

If you're not a subscriber, go get a free trial and tune in.

Even if you're hopelessly out of touch with the world of entertainment (like me) you'll probably remember Frank from his stint on The Daily Show. He was their movie reviewer for a while, and a part of a cast that really couldn't be beat. I vividly remember the first time I saw him.... speechless. Just speechless! I suspect we'll have a good time tomorrow, unless we get in a tiff and pull each other's wigs off. I don't expect that to happen; how could you not love a guy who has a pooch like this one?

WOOT WOOT

Things are hectic... lots of ice cream to make, people to talk to, yadda yadda. Tomorrow I have a phone interview with Canadian Broadcast Corporation. Hilarrrrrious! Global domination?

We got an excellent notice in the New York Times yesterday. I gotta say- it's really damned cool. Read it!

Media round-up, August A

It's time for another collection of BGICT press. I continued to be astounded (and pleased, and humbled) by the coverage the endeavor is getting.

I wish I could also include every blog post that describes a visit to the truck or somehow talks about BGICT. If I listed one I'm sure I'd be omitting three by accident, so I'm not going to go down that road. Bloggers, I want you to know that I consider your TLC to be one of the great factors in our success. I do read what you write, and I appreciate it very much.

Village Voice (Runner-up to the top-ten frozen treats. Runner-up might sound not-so-great, but bear in mind I'm in the one of two mobile guys on the list. We beat a certain "upscale" ice cream truck conglomerate, and Jacques Torres is another runner-up. Yay!)
Heeb (I'd never heard of this magazine, but it's great. An editor described it to me as "The Onion, for Jews.")

Media nuttiness

The last two days have seen some of our biggest coverage yet. NPR ran a story on Saturday's Morning Edition, and you can listen here. The New York Daily News has a big story today. You wouldn't been believe the well-wishes we've been getting. Welcome, everyone!

Make sure that you notice how many comments are getting deleted on the NPR site. I wonder if it's just one troll reposting something?

Check 'em out! I'll see you out on the street tomorrow.

Too flabbergasted to think of a title

Look at what we're sandwiched between. "Real" news. Good lord. I need to wrap duct tape around my skull right now to keep it all intact!!!

Radio alert!

Last week George Bodarky, host of an excellent local public radio show called Cityscape, came by the truck. Some of you even spoke to his microphone; thanks for being good sports. George has assembled a bit about BGICT, and it will air on his show tomorrow (Saturday) morning. If you're in NYC you can pick it up on WFUV, 90.7. The show starts at 7:30am.

I'm excited to say that his segment has also been picked up by NPR! It will air on Weekend Edition sometime Saturday morning. I think Weekend Edition runs pretty much everywhere, but if you need help finding your local signal click here.

I haven't heard the segment, but since I have George's phone number I suspect he would not say anything too vicious. Please tune in. Thank you, George!
